They’re just

They’re just babies, these babies
children of the mall and  the multiplex
waddling and crackling from their chemical biscuits
and artificial cheeses
snapping and wise from brain pop and energy Slurpees
rich in the love of distracted and desperate parents
and indifferent after-school head.
Not a real generation, these babies
not like our generation
not your kids or my kids
but some kids
these particular ones
a gang that got together god knows how
and realized that life can be exactly like the movies
if you try.
